DJ Tips: Mastering EQ Mixing for Flawless Transitions
EQ mixing is the secret to pro DJ sets. Learn how to adjust frequencies for seamless transitions!
Basics
Most DJ mixers have three EQ bands: Low, Mid, High.
- Low: 20–200 Hz (bass)
- Mid: 200 Hz–2 kHz (vocals)
- High: 2–20 kHz (hi-hats)
Tips
- Avoid bass clashes: Lower the bass of the outgoing track.
- Protect vocals: Reduce mids on the other track.
- Adjust hi-hats: Avoid overly sharp highs.
Example
Start Track B in the background, reduce Track A's bass by 50%, and fade Track A out slowly.
