Ten years after "Arc Angel," Planetary Assault Systems returns to Ostgut Ton with "Planetary People."
Planetary Assault Systems is back – with a new album on Ostgut Ton. Behind the project name is Luke Slater, one of the longest-active Berghain residents. With "Planetary People," he releases his first P.A.S. album on the Berlin label in May 2026, ten years after his last.

Ten Years After "Arc Angel"
Slater has never built P.A.S. albums according to a release schedule. Since "Temporary Suspension" introduced his machine-driven, industrial sound on Ostgut Ton in 2009, each subsequent album under this alias has been its own self-contained process – from "The Messenger" to "Arc Angel." "Planetary People" continues this lineage, this time as three LPs with a total of 13 tracks, from "Into the Night" to "Retina Burn" and the concluding "Presently my Soul grew stronger."
Live Energy Meets Studio Work
According to Slater himself, the album is not a pure studio product, but rather combines ideas from his live sets with classic studio work. Exactly ten years after "Arc Angel," he describes the new long-player as a conscious return to that stage experience.
"External signals and signs combine until the recipe feels right, both musically and from being 'out there'," says Slater about the creation process. "10 years since I released Arc Angel on Ostgut Ton, and it's a fitting pleasure to combine live show ideas and studio work for the new album, served up with raw energy."
A Sound That Has Stood the Test of Time Since the Nineties
What distinguishes Planetary Assault Systems from many contemporary techno projects is its continuity: bleepy, polyrhythmic, industrially heavy productions have been Slater's trademark under this name since the mid-nineties. If you're interested in the label's range beyond pure club tracks, you'll find further points of reference in our overview of hard techno releases 2026, as well as in the compilation of dark techno releases in August.
