Techno Production: Sidechain Compression for Perfect Drops
Sidechain compression is the key to fat techno drops. We show you step by step how to implement it in Ableton Live.
Step 1: Prepare Kick & Bass
Use a kick drum with lots of sub-bass and a sine-wave bass synth.
Step 2: Sidechain in Ableton Live
- Add the Compressor to the bass track.
- Select the kick as the sidechain source.
- Set Threshold to -20dB and Ratio to 4:1.
