1. General information
Protecting your personal data matters to us. We process your data solely on the basis of the applicable law, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). This privacy policy explains the most important aspects of data processing on our website.
2. Controller
re:union Radio & Records
Owner: Eric Kanzler
c/o pme-mobil GmbH, Marktplatz 7, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany
Email: demo@reunion-radio.com
3. Hosting and server log files
Our website runs on our own virtual server with the provider one.com. When you visit the website, the web server automatically stores information in so-called server log files that your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of the request, page requested, browser type and version, operating system and referrer URL.
This data is not combined with other data sources and is deleted automatically after 14 days.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website).
4. Cookie-free audience measurement
To see which pages are read, we count page views ourselves on our server, without cookies and without external analytics services. We store the page viewed, language, referrer, device type (e.g. mobile), country, clicks on links to other sites (including affiliate links), whether the live player was started, and source tags contained in the link you opened (e.g. ref=story or utm_source), so we can see whether shared links work. Instead of your IP address we only store a checksum of IP address, browser identifier and date, which changes every day. This makes it impossible to recognise you across several days or to link the data to you as a person.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving our service).
5. Contact form, DJ application and promo submission
If you write to us by email, via the contact form or via the DJ application, we store your details (e.g. name, email address, message, and for applications your links) as well as IP address and browser identifier to prevent abuse. We only use this data to handle your request and do not pass it on without your consent. Once your request has been dealt with, we delete it unless statutory retention periods apply.
On the “Submit a promo” page you can send us tracks. For this we store artist, title, label, style, your email address and the file or download link on our own server outside the publicly accessible area. To prevent abuse we count submissions per network range as a checksum (hash), not as a plain IP address. This counter only applies for one day and is deleted afterwards. You receive a confirmation by email. If we play your track, artist, title and label appear publicly in our now-playing info. Submissions we don’t play are deleted immediately on request.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (request or pre-contractual measures) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (prevention of abuse).
6. Newsletter
For the newsletter we only need your email address. We use the double opt-in procedure: after signing up you receive an email with a confirmation link, and you are only added once you confirm. As proof of your consent we store the time of sign-up and confirmation, IP address, browser identifier and chosen language.
You can unsubscribe at any time, a short email to demo@reunion-radio.com is enough. Your address will then be deleted.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).
7. Club chat and listener display
In Club mode you can write in the chat under a nickname of your choice and react to tracks. Your posts are visible to all visitors. We store nickname, message, reaction, a random session identifier and a checksum of your IP address (to prevent spam). Please do not share personal data in the chat. We will delete your posts on request.
To show how many listeners are online and from which countries, we send your IP address to the service ipapi.co (Kloudend, Inc., USA) on your first visit, which determines the country from it. We only store the country code and a checksum of the IP address. The transfer to the USA may involve a lower level of data protection.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a working chat and listener display).
8. Live stream and embedded services
AzuraCast: Our live stream is delivered via AzuraCast on our own server (radio.reunion-radio.com). When you play the stream, your browser connects to this service and transmits the usual connection data (IP address, browser identifier).
SoundCloud: Content from SoundCloud (SoundCloud Global Limited & Co. KG, Rheinsberger Str. 76/77, 10115 Berlin, Germany) may be embedded on our website. When you open a page with SoundCloud content, a connection to SoundCloud is established.
Twitch: Our website may contain content from Twitch (Twitch Interactive, Inc., 350 Bush Street, 2nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA). When you open a page with Twitch streams, a connection to Twitch is established.
Fonts (self-hosted): We host the fonts Unbounded, Manrope, Quicksand and JetBrains Mono on our own server. There are no requests to Google Fonts or other external font services.
Cover images (Deezer and Apple iTunes): To show covers in the player and track history, our server matches artist and title against the public search interfaces of Deezer and Apple iTunes; your browser is not involved. Your browser then loads the cover images directly from the servers of Deezer (cdn-images.dzcdn.net) or Apple (is1-ssl.mzstatic.com), transmitting the usual connection data.
Previews and players (Deezer, SoundCloud, Spotify, YouTube): When you tap “Preview” or play a track or mix from SoundCloud, Spotify or YouTube, your browser loads the preview or player directly from the provider (Deezer S.A., 12 rue d’Athènes, 75009 Paris, France; SoundCloud Global Limited & Co. KG, Rheinsberger Str. 76/77, 10115 Berlin, Germany; Spotify AB, Regeringsgatan 19, 111 53 Stockholm, Sweden; Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Your IP address is transmitted to the provider. The connection is only made when you click.
DJ profile pages and SoundCloud player: On our DJs’ profile pages you can listen to sets and tracks via the SoundCloud player. A player is only loaded when you click “Play” or “Load SoundCloud player” on the respective entry (two-click solution); before that, no data is transmitted to SoundCloud and the preview (titles and covers) consists of images from our own server. With “Allow all SoundCloud players” your consent applies to all players until you close the browser tab; for this your browser only stores a flag in session storage (sessionStorage), which is not transmitted to us. After the click, your browser connects to SoundCloud; among other things your IP address, browser information and the page you visited are transmitted, and SoundCloud may set cookies. If you are logged in to SoundCloud, SoundCloud can link the visit to your account. We fetch titles, covers, player addresses and public details such as duration, plays and followers of the linked SoundCloud pages server-side via the public oEmbed interface or the SoundCloud API and cache them on our server; no data about you is transmitted. Legal basis: your consent by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG); you can withdraw it by reloading the page.
DJ press material: Photos, biography, links and show times on the DJ pages are provided by the DJs themselves; we only publish them after review and with their consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We remove location data (GPS) from all published images. DJs can change their material in the DJ area at any time or request its deletion.
Legal basis for this section: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in delivering the stream and in an appealing presentation of multimedia content); for previews and players you start yourself, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent by clicking).
9. Merch shop (Spreadshirt)
Our Spreadshop is embedded on the “Merch” page. When you open this page, data, in particular your IP address, is transmitted to sprd.net AG, Gießerstraße 27, 04229 Leipzig, Germany; Spreadshirt also uses the consent service OneTrust. Ordering, payment and shipping are handled by Spreadshirt as an independent controller – its privacy policy applies.
The shop is not loaded on any other page.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in selling our merchandise) or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual steps).
10. WhatsApp contact via the re:union bot
DJs who broadcast with us can message our WhatsApp contact “re:union Radio” (+49 160 94773482). For this we store the mobile number you enter in the DJ area and confirm with a code, as well as the messages you send us and our replies. The bot forwards your messages internally to the editorial team; you do not see the team’s numbers, and we do not pass on your number.
We delete message contents after 30 days; images and voice messages are not stored on our server. Transmission runs via WhatsApp (WhatsApp Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland, or Meta Platforms); their privacy policy applies, and a transfer to the USA is possible. You can remove your number in the DJ area at any time.
Anyone who writes to us without being a connected DJ receives a one-time automatic reply; the message is not stored, only a shortened reference to the number for the daily summary.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of our collaboration) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in quick coordination).
11. Support chat in the DJ area
Signed-in DJs can message us through the support chat in the DJ area and attach images (e.g. screenshots). For this we store the messages, time, read status and attached images. Images are re-saved on upload, which removes embedded metadata such as location (GPS) or camera details. The content is visible only to you and the re:union team and is kept on our own server outside the publicly accessible area.
When you write to us, Eric receives a short notice with the beginning of your message via our WhatsApp contact (WhatsApp Ireland Limited or Meta Platforms; a transfer to the USA is possible). We notify you of a reply at most every 30 minutes by email or – if you have connected your number with the bot and written to it yourself – via WhatsApp, each with a short excerpt. Whether the mini window is open or closed is remembered by your browser in local storage.
We delete messages and images automatically after 12 months, or earlier on request.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of our collaboration) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in quick coordination).
12. Push notifications
If you tap “🔔 Notify me” on a DJ or show page or in the live card and agree in your browser, we store your browser’s subscription: the delivery address assigned by the browser vendor (e.g. Google, Mozilla, Apple, Microsoft), two associated keys, the language, which DJs or shows you subscribed to, and timestamps and counters for delivery and errors. We do not store your IP address for this.
We send you at most three messages a day, e.g. when a DJ goes live or a show starts. Messages are delivered encrypted via your browser vendor’s push service; their privacy policy applies, and a transfer to the USA is possible. You can end the subscription at any time with the same button or in your browser settings; invalid subscriptions are deleted automatically.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent).
13. Player embedded on other websites
DJs, clubs and other sites can embed our live player on their website. The embedded player sets no cookies and uses no analytics services. When it loads and plays, the page and stream are fetched from our server; the data described under “Hosting and server log files” is processed. If you click “reunion-radio.com” in the player, the link contains a source tag with the name of the embedding website.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in distributing our programme).
14. Amazon affiliate links
re:union Radio participates in the Amazon EU Associates Programme. In some articles we link to products on Amazon; these links contain our affiliate ID. No data is transmitted to Amazon while you are simply reading. Only when you click such a link do you reach Amazon, where Amazon may set cookies to recognise that you came via us. If you buy something there, we receive a commission; the price stays the same for you. We do not learn who bought anything. The controller for processing at Amazon is Amazon Europe Core S.à r.l., 38 avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg; its privacy notice applies.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate economic interest in financing our service).
15. Cookies and local storage
Our website does not use cookies for visitors and no third-party tracking. Only when DJs or team members sign in do we set technically necessary cookies for the login, the language of the DJ area and the DJ badge in the chat.
Some settings, such as favourites, sleep timer or display options, are stored by your browser in local storage (localStorage) on your device. This data is not transmitted to us, and you can delete it in your browser at any time.
For embedded content (e.g. Twitch, SoundCloud, Spreadshop) and after clicking an Amazon link, these providers may set their own cookies; we have no influence on this.
Legal basis: Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (strictly necessary for the service you requested), Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
16. Your rights
You have the right at any time to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
Just write to us: demo@reunion-radio.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data is unlawful.
17. Changes
We update this privacy policy when our services or the legal situation change. The current version on this page always applies.
