Dark Techno in June 2026 sounded like a machine hall and a basement club rolled into one: A Berlin-based producer debuts with broken industrial on OMEN Recordings, Risa Taniguchi sends bell tones over sub-bass on CLR, and Soma Records celebrates its 35th birthday with freshly reworked Slam classics.

Swarm Intelligence: Broken Industrial on OMEN

With "Containment Field", Swarm Intelligence, Irish by origin, based in Berlin, makes his debut on OMEN Recordings. The label describes the sound as "broken cyberpunk ritual mechanical techno".

The four originals "Inner Brilliance", "Paraphysics", "Propensity" and "Void That Binds" get two remixes: Orphx remixes "Inner Brilliance", label heads AXKAN and Duellist take on "Void That Binds".

Risa Taniguchi: Bell Tones Over Sub-Bass

Tokyo-based producer and DJ Risa Taniguchi returns to CLR with the "Magnetic EP", the label run by Chris Liebing. She's released four EPs there already, plus records on MOOD and Second State. Support has come from the likes of Amelie Lens, Perc and Daniel Avery.

"Magnetic" rides on stomping kicks, distant bell tones and cavernous sub-bass. "Masks" follows up: hammering percussion, shattered synth lines, vocal screams — a driving peak-time weapon.

Soma 35.1: Slam Classics, Freshly Bolted

Soma Records was founded in 1991 in Glasgow — by Slam (Stuart McMillan, Orde Meikle) alongside Dave Clarke, Glenn Gibbons, Nigel Hirst and Jim Muotune. For the 35th birthday, the remix series "SOMA35" kicks off, six vinyl releases with digital editions.

Part one, "Soma 35.1", is also the label's 700th release. Mark Broom and FJAAK, plus Vril and Linear Phase, deliver new versions of two Slam tracks. Digital dropped June 27, 2026, vinyl follows July 24, 2026. For further installments, the likes of Surgeon, Oscar Mulero, Luke Slater and Lewis Fautzi have picked tracks from the Soma catalog.
