Delta Sound Labs presents Stream Pro. The granular plugin splits audio into grains and offers three-dimensional spatial sound processing.
Delta Sound Labs has introduced Stream Pro, a granular synthesis platform. Previously known as XStream, the software divides audio material into tiny particles to generate textures, playable polyphonic instruments, and spatial sound.
Overview of features and modes
The software includes two main operating modes:
- Single Mode: Allows capture via record, overdub, or replace. Pitch and playback time can be adjusted independently. Playback speed spans from −2x to +2x, including a freeze function. Buffer undo and automatic restoration of buffers and settings are also built in.
- Multi Mode: Enables playing samples via MIDI with up to 8 voices simultaneously. Each voice features a dedicated ADSR envelope with a graphical editor, alongside colored playheads. The Stroma engine reduces CPU load, while the grains exhibit stochastic jitter.
Spatial processing and modulation
The integrated 3D spatializer relies on Steam Audio. Voices can be placed in space via binaural HRTF processing on an XY pad or routed in a ping-pong pattern. BOIDS flocking enables voices to form swarms and disperse. Movement paths can be recorded, looped, and automated in the DAW.
The modulation matrix contains four LFOs offering seven waveforms, running either freely between 0.01 and 20 Hz or tempo-synced, paired with 16 routing slots. Grain sizes range from 1 to 500 ms with Triangle, Gaussian, and Noise windows. The effect section provides saturation, a Moog-style low-pass/band-pass filter per voice, and a stereo delay. The plugin supports MPE and MIDI Learn.
Stream Pro is available as VST3, AU, and standalone for macOS from version 10.13, Windows from version 10 (64-bit), and Linux x64 from Ubuntu 20.04.
