Erica Synths is now offering the Konstrukt-8 modular drum machine pre-assembled. The instrument combines eight Eurorack modules in one desktop unit.
Modular drum machine overview
Erica Synths presents the Konstrukt-8 drum machine. The system consists of eight Eurorack modules and was previously available as a DIY kit. According to the manufacturer, the instrument is suited for sound design and live performance. Operation takes place directly on the panel, without shift commands, tiny displays, or submenus.
Sound generation and sequencing
The sound architecture includes four analog drum modules:
- Kick, snare, and hi-hat
- An FM drum module for kicks, toms, bells, cymbals, as well as bass and lead sounds
Each module provides CV jacks and various parameters. For modulation, two triangle-wave LFOs can be synced to the sequencer. The performance sequencer provides four tracks, records rhythms in real time, and loops them automatically.
Mixer and effects section
Signals are summed via a four-channel mixer. Each channel features send/return paths to integrate internal modules or outboard gear. Processing tools include an analog BBD delay module with flanger and delay modes, a diode-based compressor with sidechain functionality, and master diode distortion alongside a master insert. The unit features headphone and line outputs, with dimensions measuring 26.5 × 27.5 × 6 cm.
