Subb-an is set to release his debut album Lotus Rising on Phonica Records on 30 October 2026, combining electronic elements with live instrumentation.

Subb-an has announced his debut album, titled Lotus Rising. The record will be released on 30 October 2026 via Phonica Records and Phonica Special Editions Records. The project was five years in the making.

Musical direction and influences

Following a path largely rooted in house and techno, the artist shifts away from the immediate focus on the dancefloor towards a more introspective listening experience. The album explores his South Asian heritage, merging electronic production with organic elements, textures, and sound design. The visual and conceptual themes draw on the lotus flower and the Bengal tiger, inspired by his personal experiences with sound baths and breathwork sessions at House of Wisdom in London.

According to Subb-an, this evolution represented a turning point during which he began viewing sound as a form of medicine to heal the body and aid meditation. He also noted discovering the supportive power that specific frequencies, instruments, and traditional practices have on mental and physical healing.

Guest collaborators

Subb-an worked alongside several guest musicians across the release:

  • Akash Parekar (sitar) on the tracks Lucid and Unearthed
  • Kate Fleur Young (vocals and singing bowls) on Wilderness and Stillness
  • Anushree Datar (vocals) on the track Lotus
  • Luke Weaver (bass)
  • Jonny Cade (drums)
