From Suburban Rave to Global Brand
The first edition didn't even take place in Mannheim: On November 26, 1994, the likes of Laurent Garnier, Robert Armani, and Speedy J played at the Waldebene in Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart. Just a year later, the festival moved to Mannheim — and stayed. Through production agency Cosmopop, Time Warp bet early on Funktion-One systems, making it one of the first major indoor techno events to adopt this sound standard.
Sound and Stage Design as Trademarks
Time Warp describes its own concept as "Event Engineering": every stage, called a "Floor," gets its own visual concept.
