Pioneer DJ DDJ-1000SRT: a 4-channel Serato DJ Pro controller with 206 mm jog wheels, On Jog Display and DJM effects. All specs and connections.
The Pioneer DJ DDJ-1000SRT is the Serato edition of the DDJ-1000: four channels, 206-millimetre jog wheels with a colour display in the centre, and a built-in mixer carrying effects from the DJM series. Pioneer DJ announced it in August 2019, around a year and a half after the rekordbox model. The idea: if you play with Serato and face CDJs and a DJM in the club, you shouldn't have to relearn anything.

Club layout instead of a controller compromise
Pioneer DJ arranges the buttons and knobs the same way as on its NXS2 club gear. Practise at home on the DDJ-1000SRT and you'll find the controls in the booth right where your hands expect them. You set the resistance of the big jog wheels to taste with Jog Adjust.

The On Jog Display in the centre of each platter shows playback time, BPM and playback position and mirrors the Serato DJ Pro interface. Bonedo points out that the Serato version shows no waveforms, cue points or cover art there, but a copy of the deck scope along with loop lengths and pitch values. Instead of the rekordbox model's track search buttons you get beat jumps of adjustable length, but no loop encoder.
Mixer and effects: DJM tools inside a controller
The four Sound Color FX, Pitch, Filter, Dub Echo and Noise, come from the DJM mixers. On top of that there are 14 Beat FX which, according to Bonedo, you can assign to the channels, the sampler, the master and the mic. New additions were Enigma Jet, Mobius (Saw), Mobius (Triangle) and Low Cut Echo. A dedicated display shows the BPM and the name of the selected effect.
Because the effects live in the hardware, they also work on external sources. What's missing are controls for Serato's software effects. The decks share 16 backlit Performance Pads for Hot Cues, Roll, Slicer, Sampler and Pitch Play, plus Key Shift and Key Sync for harmonic mixing. A voucher for the Pitch 'n Time DJ plug-in is included.

Who the DDJ-1000SRT suits
Its four inputs take CDJs or turntables, and the unit then also works as a standalone DJ mixer. Two USB ports allow back-to-back sets and a smooth handover to the next DJ. If you're not tied to Serato, settle the software question first: the DDJ-1000SRT does not work with rekordbox. For the rekordbox world, Pioneer DJ offers its own models such as the DDJ-FLX10.
Frequently asked questions
Does the DDJ-1000SRT work with rekordbox?
No. The controller is designed for Serato DJ Pro, and Bonedo states explicitly that it does not work with rekordbox. For rekordbox there is the DDJ-1000.
Do I need a Serato licence?
Not for Serato DJ Pro: as soon as you connect the controller to a PC or Mac, the software is unlocked, with no licence key or subscription. DVS costs extra as the Serato DVS Expansion Pack.
Can I connect turntables and microphones?
Yes. Two of the four stereo inputs switch between line and phono, and there are two mic inputs, one of them an XLR/TRS combo jack.
