The Sennheiser HD 25 Plus is the extended version of a headphone that Sennheiser, according to its own company history, launched in 1988. Originally for monitoring applications, it gradually found its way into DJ booths. The Plus package adds a coiled cable, a second straight cable, soft replacement pads, and a bag to the familiar headphones.

From Broadcast Van to Booth
Sennheiser originally developed the HD 25 for professional monitoring. According to the manufacturer's company history, the headphones were also used as high-quality on-board headphones on the Concorde during this period, before – as Sennheiser itself writes – they conquered DJ booths worldwide.
In 2020, the HD 25 Light, a variant with a simplified headband and the same sound profile, was released.
What Makes the Plus Package
Sonically and technically, the HD 25 Plus is an HD 25. The difference lies in the accessories: instead of just a straight 1.5-meter cable, you also get an extendable coiled cable, which gives you more freedom of movement between the decks and the crowd.
Additionally, you get a pair of soft replacement pads, a bag, and a screw adapter from 3.5 to 6.3 mm. Cables, ear pads, and headband pads can be replaced on the HD 25; Sennheiser offers them individually as spare parts.

Who the HD 25 Plus is For
Sennheiser describes the sound as powerful and precise, with present mids. It's designed to give you the information you need for beatmatching: attacks, punch, dynamics – even when the venue's sound system dictates the bass.
