Boris Brejcha announces retirement for 2028

· re:union Radio editorial · 1 min read

Boris Brejcha has shared plans to stop performing. Following his final festival appearances in 2027, an extensive farewell tour will take place in 2028.

Departure after more than two decades

German DJ and producer Boris Brejcha has stated that he will stop performing in 2028. The artist revealed the news in an Instagram video on 25 October, explaining his decision through advice he received from his family: “My dad always used to say that you should stop when things are at their best. And that's why I want to let you know that in 2028, I'll be writing my final chapter.”

Schedule for the final years

Brejcha made clear that the decision is not related to health issues or fading passion for making music, describing the move as a happy ending. His path toward retirement includes key milestones:

  • 2027 will be his final year playing at festivals.
  • In 2028, he will embark on a headline farewell tour named Last Chapter: Becoming the Joker.
  • During his last year, he aims to perform as many dates as possible to say goodbye to his supporters.

Career background and recent shows

Recognised for his Joker mask, Brejcha created this stage persona alongside his signature sound labeled High-Tech Minimal in 2006, when he also began releasing music. He went on to establish the label Fckng Serious in 2015. He was placed at No. 57 in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll for 2026. This year, his calendar included headlining Tomorrowland's Mainstage, performing at Alexandra Palace, and playing a b2b set alongside Eric Prydz at the Royal Palace of Brussels in August.
