Factory Content and Sound Shaping

Out of the box, Elektron supplies the Digitakt with 64 factory sounds – ready-made presets that each include a sample reference plus settings for the SRC, FLTR, AMP, and LFO parameter groups. On top of that, you get more than 400 factory samples, all in 16-bit/48 kHz mono format. Your own and the included sounds can be accessed via the built-in sound browser, while the sound pool manages the so-called sound locks. If you prefer building beats completely without a laptop, you might already know the concept from the Native Instruments Maschine+, which pursues a similar but independently implemented approach.

Storage and Project Management

Your own recordings and projects land on the Digitakt’s internal +Drive, where samples can be stored permanently. For transferring your own sample libraries to the +Drive, Elektron relies on the Elektron Transfer software, which, according to the manufacturer, runs on macOS 10.13 and later as well as Windows 8 and later.
