The Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV7 is a two-channel controller that Pioneer DJ specifically developed for scratch and battle DJs, as well as open-format and hip-hop DJs. At its core are large, motorized jog wheels, which the manufacturer claims offer handling reminiscent of classic CDJ units.

Motorized Jog Wheels at the Core
The DDJ-REV7's jog wheels are motorized and feature a 3.5-inch LCD display. The surface is vinyl-like textured (Pioneer calls it “Vinylized Jog”), and two interchangeable slip sheets allow for friction adjustment. You can switch between 33⅓ and 45 RPM – a detail directly aimed at the scratch practice of vinyl DJs. Pioneer describes the wheels themselves as: “Large jog wheels are responsive, reliable, and easy to operate – with a feel just like those on classic CDJ units.”
Magvel Fader Pro and Pad Features
For the crossfader, Pioneer uses the Magvel Fader Pro, which can be adjusted in several stages for different scratch techniques. Additionally, there are four Instant Scratch buttons and deck pads that switch between Performance Pad modes, Hot Cue/Scratch Bank functions, and controlling Serato Stems. Serato Stems allows you to mute, isolate, or adjust the level of individual elements of a track – such as vocals or drums.
Software and Sound
The DDJ-REV7 is primarily designed for Serato DJ Pro, but it also supports rekordbox. A voucher for the Pitch 'n Time DJ Expansion Pack is included. For audio output, Pioneer uses a DAC from ESS Technologies, which the manufacturer promotes as offering the “highest sound quality of any Pioneer DJ controller.” The effects offered include 22 Beat FX, among them three new variations: Duck Down, Fill Out, and Helix Out, as well as a Silent Cue mode that avoids startup noises during previewing.
