Polyend releases the source code for Tracker, Tracker Mini and Tracker+ on GitHub alongside the Tracker Community Edition 1.0 update.
Polyend has released the source code for its hardware samplers Tracker, Tracker Mini, and Tracker+ as open source on GitHub. The company also provides a dedicated recovery system to help restore units if firmware modifications fail.
Community update and feature overview
Alongside the source code, Polyend launched the Tracker Community Edition 1.0 firmware update. The new software enables direct playback of audio files from an inserted SD card without loading them into memory first. A new Sample Editor allows users to build and run effect and generator plugins. Six plugins are included out of the box, covering tools such as a multimode filter, a stereo delay, and an analogue-style kick drum generator.
Tracker+ and Tracker Mini gain two new synthesis engines: Dirt, which provides wavefolding and distortion, and Chip, the first engine created using the new open Synth SDK. Further additions include wavetable envelopes, wavetable LFO modulation sources, custom colours and fonts, and new chance conditions. Sequencers receive dedicated steps for volume and Micro-Move, preventing these parameters from occupying the two existing FX slots.
Polyend CEO Piotr Raczyński stated:
“Here at Polyend, creativity is what we value most. We’ve seen it firsthand in the unofficial Tracker mods you’ve built, and we’re sharing the firmware source code to support that work.”
The original Tracker was released in 2020 featuring a vertical numeric sequencer, followed by the pocket-sized Tracker Mini in 2023 and the Tracker+ in 2024 with stereo sampling and extra synth engines.
