Amazona.de Implements BotStopper System

· re:union Radio editorial · 1 min read

Amazona.de uses a protection tool called BotStopper to prevent bot requests and confirm legitimate web browsers using an automated calculation task.

Verification via Proof of Work

A technical verification system is active on Amazona.de to block automated bots and malicious requests. While serving a similar function to a traditional CAPTCHA, it does not require visitors to complete manual tasks. Instead, the user's browser receives an automated computation task that must be solved to verify that it is a valid client.

This method is known as Proof of Work. The calculation process takes only a few seconds. Once the task is completed, access to the website is immediately granted.

JavaScript Requirements and Plugins

The protective measure is powered by BotStopper from Techaro. The Anubis system relies on modern JavaScript functionality to run properly. However, specific browser plugins can interfere with this operation:

  • Tools such as JShelter may disable the necessary JavaScript functions.
  • Users are advised to disable such extensions for this specific domain to ensure uninterrupted access.
