Befaco and Tesseract Modular have presented ARK, a new module designed for Eurorack systems. The unit combines a 16-track sequencer with an internal sound engine and a sample player.
Design and Hardware Layout
The device is split into two separate modules. In addition to the dedicated sequencer section, there is a master unit equipped with a display, configuration buttons, encoders, and inputs and outputs. The sequencer features large keys that are Cherry-compatible.
Sequencer Features
ARK handles both MIDI and control voltage. The sequencer includes stochastic and Euclidean modes, sending signals via MIDI and CV. The hardware connections include:
- Eight CV/gate output pairs
- Six CV inputs
- MIDI In and Out
- Clock In and Out
- Reset In and Out
- A USB host port for external MIDI parameter control
Sound Engine and Audio Routing
The internal synthesis engine and sample player can be engaged per track. Sound shaping is supported by 16 internal modulators, with playback triggered by the built-in sequencer or via MIDI. Furthermore, the unit features a mixer with integrated effects and master dynamics. The CV outputs also double as audio outputs, allowing flexible signal routing.
