Présentation de TapeEngine de PhotonDSP, Colony de 13X Audio et edgeRunner retrograde de Variety of Sound pour la production musicale.
Three free software tools for music production are highlighted.
PhotonDSP TapeEngine
TapeEngine by PhotonDSP emulates the sound of analog tape. It includes parameters for tone and saturation. A motion section manages pitch variations, while a stereo and damage module covers crosstalk and dropouts. Furthermore, noise elements like hum or hiss can be dialed in. Parameters can be modified separately or adjusted together through a main control. It is built as a VST3 plugin for Windows.
13X Audio Colony
Colony from 13X Audio functions as a multi-effect containing six sections:
- Drive featuring five overdrive variations
- Pump operating as a sidechain compressor
- Width providing chorus, ensemble, and mid-side processing
- Color delivering nine tonal profiles with noise
- Space offering six reverb types
- Motion serving as an LFO and step modulator
A central energy dial manipulates all six modules at once. It supports macOS, Windows, and Linux in VST3, AU, and standalone versions.
Variety of Sound edgeRunner retrograde
Variety of Sound presents edgeRunner retrograde. The plugin gathers three internal sections: color for warmth and depth, saturation to emulate analog gear, and a distortion circuit introducing non-linear behavior. It runs on Windows in VST and VST3 formats.
