MusicRadar has released a free pack containing 371 samples inspired by vintage Chicago house and Detroit techno.
A new free sample pack featuring 371 sounds draws inspiration from early Chicago house and Detroit techno. Celebrating producers such as Frankie Knuckles, Juan Atkins, and Kevin Saunderson, the collection focuses on beats and basslines.
Structure and production
The sounds are divided into two main folders, Bass Lines and Drum Loops, organized across tempos of 120, 125, and 128 bpm. Drum loops were processed through four parallel chains: Neutral, Tape, Room, and Comp. Tools used in this workflow include the UAD Studer A800, Ampex ATR102, Fatso Sr, and Eventide SP2016 Reverb. The drum kits feature individual layers such as kick, snare, claps, tops, and percussion alongside mixed layer loops.
Basslines were created using six sound sources:
- Novation BassStation, tracked via Alesis 3630, JDK Audio R24, and CAPI VP26
- Arturia V Collection including Prophet 5, Jupiter 8, MiniMoog, and Matrix 12
- UVI Workstation for DX synthesizer sounds
The 136MB download is delivered in a ZIP file as royalty-free WAV files, with redistribution not permitted.
