Roland introduces AI tool Melody Flip

· re:union Radio editorial · 1 min read

Roland présente Melody Flip, un outil créatif conçu avec Sony. Ce plugin fournit des idées musicales pour l'écriture de morceaux et la création de rythmes.

Roland has launched Melody Flip, a free creative tool developed in cooperation with Sony. The software is part of Roland Cloud under the Software Solutions section and is also available with a free Basic account.

Features and workflow overview

Melody Flip functions as a plugin inside a DAW. The program does not create finished songs complete with vocals or lyrics, but instead supplies songwriters and beatmakers with musical impulses in the form of MIDI and audio material. For idea generation, the system does not rely on text prompts. Instead, an imported audio recording serves as the starting point, with its tempo, rhythm, and harmonies analyzed to generate new variations.

Alternatively, users can begin with preconfigured Palettes. More than 250 templates organized by genre are available. Each Palette contains an eight-bar template featuring up to four individual tracks:

  • Melody
  • Chord
  • Bass
  • Drums

Control and export options

Users can adjust parameters such as tempo, key, note density, and the volume balance among the four tracks. For further editing in the DAW, phrases and work stages can be exported as MIDI or audio files.
