Tascam has introduced the AP-10, a compact two-channel audio player for installations that can be controlled via GPIO and OSC.

Tascam has introduced the Tascam AP-10. This two-channel audio player is designed for automated, time- and event-controlled announcements in fixed installations. The unit plays files from SD cards in WAV format at 48 kHz and 24-bit.

Control and integration

For integration into control systems, the player provides a 25-pin Sub-D connector for GPIO and an Ethernet port for Open Sound Control (OSC). Incoming triggers start playback, while output signals can trigger external hardware such as lighting. Control surfaces can also be set up on tablets or computers via TouchOSC. If an external system fails, direct manual operation via the front panel buttons remains available.

Features and connections

The unit features five playback modes: Direct, Single by priority, Interval, Binary, and Program. Binary playback allows addressing up to 250 audio files. Offline preparation is handled by the free Tascam Playlist Editor software, which lets users configure volume, intervals, fade times, and start delays.

  • 1U half-rack metal chassis, weight: 1.2 kg
  • Ducking function for background music via line input
  • Dual-mono operation for two independent output channels
  • Interface options include RJ-45 network, USB-C, 25-pin D-sub as well as Euroblock terminals and RCA
  • Protective SD card cover and lockable front panel
  • Power-on play for automatic start upon boot

Tascam lists commercial venues, train stations, airports, theme parks, factories, and offices as intended application areas.
