Videos of Ableton Live 13 have appeared online, revealing upcoming tools including a step sequencer, drum synth engines, and updated audio effects.
Videos showing the unreleased Ableton Live 13 have surfaced on YouTube, providing an overview of several upcoming features. The footage shared by Hugo Vinagre highlights a modified workflow for loading instruments and effects. A dedicated dialogue box introduces text search and displays recently used devices and presets.
Sound Design and Sequencing Additions
A new drum synth device can be loaded directly onto Drum Rack pads, offering nine drum sound categories such as kicks, snares, rimshots, and toms, each marked by an icon. Users can select sounds based on classic drum machines and shape them using dedicated controls. Beyond traditional percussion, the cymbal sound generator includes an FM synthesis engine designed for textured sounds and effects.
Rhythm programming is expanded via a step sequencer that operates independently of the piano roll. Steps or variable envelope data control velocity, offset, note length, note repeat, pitch, and probability. Additionally, an automation capture function records parameter movements for subsequent curve editing.
Additional Audio Effects Overview
The leaked preview also showcases several mixing devices:
- a new clipper,
- an upgraded limiter,
- a transient shaper.
