Synthrilla presents the Froggie SF-60, a plugin recreating the sound of the 1981 Casio MT-60 using 49 original samples.
Developer Synthrilla has introduced the Froggie SF-60 plugin. The software brings the sound of the 1981 Casio MT-60 into digital audio workstations. Rather than relying on traditional synthesis, the instrument utilizes 49 chromatically recorded original samples spanning from C0 to C4.
Features and Effects Overview
The instrument provides 32-voice polyphony with an individual filter, LFO, and envelope for each voice. The sound generation is supplemented by six individually toggleable effect engines:
- A polyphonic VCF filter with six modes
- A 4-band EQ with an interactive frequency curve
- A delay featuring six modes
- A Dattorro Plate Reverb
- An LFO routable to volume, filter, or pitch
- Pitchbend operation utilizing third-order Lagrange interpolation
Play Modes and Control
A specific Thriller mute mode isolates the C key while keeping all other keys silent. A SEL mode also allows users to freely define muted keys for customized performance layouts.
MIDI Learn is implemented across all parameters. Additionally, a HUM parameter introduces a random note start delay between 0 and 100 milliseconds to vary timing. An integrated looper with a waveform display zoomable from 1x to 50x enables setting custom loop points. The software runs on macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and standalone formats.
