AlphaTheta presents the HDJ-F9 wireless on-ear headphones, featuring low-latency SonicLink technology designed for DJ monitoring.
With the HDJ-F9, AlphaTheta adds a cordless on-ear model tailored specifically to DJ performance needs. For monitoring purposes, the unit employs proprietary SonicLink wireless technology in the 2.4 GHz band, which is specified to achieve a latency of 9 ms.
Wireless Features and Hardware
SonicLink is intended to allow beatmatching and scratching without noticeable delay. Compatible hardware, such as the DJM-V5 mixer running up-to-date firmware, connects via touch pairing. For equipment without integrated SonicLink support, the separate HP-TX01 transmitter is available. Wireless range reaches around 15 meters in open conditions.
For everyday use, the headphones feature Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint support, Google Fast Pair, Windows Swift Pair, and the SBC and AAC codecs. Battery life reaches up to 9 hours via SonicLink and up to 25 hours via Bluetooth with the LEDs switched off. If the battery is depleted, the supplied 1.2 m coiled cable with a bayonet lock can be attached.
Construction and Acoustic Design
Inside the closed-back housing are newly developed 40 mm drivers utilizing a PEEK-PU-PEEK composite diaphragm. The frequency response ranges from 5 Hz to 30 kHz. Each earcup features a bass reflex chamber on the upper side. Additional build specifications include:
- Adjustable die-cast aluminium slider
- Silicone headband and swivelling earcups
- Weight of 285 g without cable
- Built-in microphone for phone calls
Using the HEADPHONES CONNECT app, users can adjust LED lighting, configure auto-off times, and assign voice assistants.
