Analogue Solutions showcased the Series 700 at SynthFest UK 2026. The modular setup reproduces the architecture of the Roland System 700.
The Analogue Solutions Series 700 was introduced at SynthFest UK 2026. It is designed as a recreation of the 1976 Roland System 700. The visual styling, physical layout, and circuit designs mirror the original instrument, with module dimensions remaining identical. Circuitry was reconstructed based on factory schematics, with alterations limited to instances where vintage components are unavailable. Internal mechanical construction differs from the original model. As an addition to the feature set, a single-channel MIDI-to-CV converter is included to synchronize the sequencer via MIDI.
Architecture and Blocks
Individual modules are not sold separately; instead, the equipment is supplied as a full system or in distinct sections:
- Block 1: Full voice section featuring oscillators (702), ring modulator and noise generator (708A), filters (703A, 703E), VCAs (704A/B), envelopes (705A), LFOs (706A/B), amplifier, envelope follower and integrator (707A), sample and hold (709A), multiple (710A), mixer, reverb, phasor, tuner and VU meter (711A), MIDI, monitor and voltage processor (712A), and a three-channel mixer (716A).
- Block 3: Analog 3×12 step CV sequencer that also functions as a pulse shaper.
- Block 4: Bank with six VCOs (702D/702E), alongside a three-channel mixer (716A), multiple (710A), LFO (706B), sample and hold (709B), and envelope (705A).
- Block 5: Filter and VCA bank containing 703C, 703F, two 704C, 713A, 705A (two dual envelopes), and 710A.
- Block 6: Interface and audio mixing section featuring 714A, 704A, and 715A.
- Block 7: Processing group with a switched multiple (710B), analog switch (723A), two-channel phase shifter (720B), and two-channel audio delay (721B).
A replica of the Roland 701 keyboard offering four polyphonic CV paths, velocity output, and MIDI connections is currently in development as a working prototype.
