Behringer has shared first details and images of its ANIMA prototype, an open-hardware DJ controller system.
Manufacturer Behringer has shared images of a prototype called ANIMA on Facebook. According to the company, these initial units are currently being assembled.
Concept and features
The system is based on an open hardware approach. This design enables users to create their own software or firmware to operate alongside DJ platforms such as Serato and Traktor. The company previously used a similar approach for the Behringer Kick groovebox.
Images of the prototype show the ANIMA label on both the front and rear panels, alongside a Klark Teknik logo on the back. The unit appears as a standalone DJ performance console. Observed features on the rear connection panel include:
- Multiple audio outputs
- Audio interface connectivity
- MIDI connections
- Potential internal storage for music libraries
Behringer accompanied the presentation with the statement: “We build the hardware. You create the magic.” The manufacturer also stated: “THE DJ INDUSTRY IS ABOUT TO CHANGE FOREVER.”
