Techno releases in June 2026: the double EP “Mantis 1920” by Forest Drive West and new albums from Answer Code Request and Batu & Dozzy.
Forest Drive West delves deep into the undergrowth on Delsin with the double EP “Mantis 1920”. Plus, two albums that oscillate between club and headphones. Here are the June releases that can be verified – without hype, with a focus on the sound.
At a glance
- Answer Code Request follows up with “Halo” (Delsin), a ten-track studio album, after eight years.
- Batu and Donato Dozzy release a collaborative eight-track album, “Exhale” (!K7).
- GROOVE named “Sinking” by Beatrice M. (Tectonic) its Album of the Month for June.
Forest Drive West: Double EP from the Jungle
Behind Forest Drive West is Joe Baker, and “Mantis 1920” appears in Delsin’s Mantis series. GROOVE describes its approach as atmospherically profound techno with a powerful low end, which doesn't necessarily have to be functional. That's exactly where this double EP plays.
The opener “Latent” begins with bird chirping that transitions into artificial synths. “Bias” starts with quirky vocals and then tips into an interplay of flickering synths, kicks, and pushing bass rumble. “Uromastyx” was created with Patrick Russell – according to GROOVE, a manic wandering through the jungle in excessively high humidity. If you're looking for techno with a bass music slant, start here.
Two Albums for Long Nights
It took Patrick Gräser, aka Answer Code Request, eight years for a new studio album. “Halo” on Delsin moves across ten tracks between ambient techno, breakbeats, and four-to-the-floor. GROOVE hears in it the rich low-end that connects it with his long association with Ostgut Ton. “Bliphar” and “Sublith” put precise drum programming at the center, while “D-Fracture” brushes against Drum’n’Bass.
On “Exhale” (!K7), two generations meet: Donato Dozzy, who has been at the intersection of techno, ambient, and experiment for 20 years, and Omar McCutcheon, aka Batu, head of the Bristol label Timedance. The eight tracks range from the acid jam “Spiral” to hypnotic big-room techno like “Drift” and “Flicker” to the tribal techno piece “Off Axis”.
Dub Chords Between Amsterdam and Tectonic
2601 releases “Untitled” on Heaven Smile, allegedly from Amsterdam and deliberately faceless. GROOVE calls it “striptease techno”: naked dub chords under seven-minute four-to-the-floor tracks, sometimes with a snare, sometimes a cowbell.
Beatrice M., French DJ, producer, and head of the Bait label, releases her first album “Sinking” on Tectonic, Pinch’s label. Warm dub techno chords, 140 BPM, and a restrained low-end characterize the record, while “Dear Dubstep” is a beatless counterpoint. If you like it minimal, you'll find more of it in the Minimal Techno Releases July 2026.
