Pioneer DJ pulls CDJ-3000 firmware 3.30: OneLibrary transition didn't delete data, but playlists weren't displayed.
Pioneer DJ's CDJ-3000 is in the midst of an unplanned retreat: Firmware version 3.30, released on October 21, 2025, was supposed to introduce OneLibrary, a new, unified library format. Instead, it caused numerous users to find their playlists and tracks missing from the display. Pioneer DJ has since pulled the firmware and officially apologized on January 7, 2026.
At a glance
- Firmware 3.30 was released on October 21, 2025, and brought the transition from Device Library to OneLibrary
- When exporting with older rekordbox versions, tracks or playlists were sometimes not displayed on the CDJ-3000
- According to Pioneer DJ, no music files or other data were lost
- The CDJ-3000 is temporarily running again in the proven Device Library format; OneLibrary preparation is currently not necessary
What went wrong
OneLibrary was intended to replace the existing Device Library structure and simplify the transfer of collections between rekordbox and CDJ players. According to Pioneer DJ, the problem primarily occurred when libraries were exported to USB drives using older rekordbox versions: the CDJ-3000 could no longer correctly display some of the tracks and playlists after the update. For DJs in the middle of a set, this is not a cosmetic problem, but a tangible risk.
No data lost, but much uncertainty
Pioneer DJ explicitly emphasizes that the display errors are not synonymous with data loss. Nevertheless, the damage to trust was real enough to completely pull the firmware, rather than just pushing out an update.
“We would like to apologize for the inconvenience and issues caused by the release of CDJ-3000 firmware version 3.30 on October 21, 2025. […] No music files or other data were deleted. To avoid further uncertainty, we have temporarily withdrawn the firmware.”
The manufacturer announced that it is currently reviewing the specifications of Device Library and OneLibrary “to ensure a simpler, clearer, and more reliable user experience.” Pioneer DJ has not yet given a specific date for a revised version.
What this means for users
If you keep your CDJ-3000 up to date, you'll be working with the familiar Device Library format for now. According to Pioneer DJ, preparations for the transition to OneLibrary — such as a special USB export according to the new scheme — are currently not necessary. If you prepare sets with older rekordbox exports, you should stick to the currently installed firmware and not prematurely switch to a future OneLibrary version until the manufacturer gives the green light.
For DJs who switch between multiple players like the CDJ-3000 and the more compact CDJ-1500X, the clarification is important: both devices share technical foundations, but firmware versions do not necessarily run synchronously.
FAQ
Do I have to rebuild my library after the withdrawal?
No. Since no data was deleted according to Pioneer DJ, music files and playlists remain. Only the display on the CDJ-3000 after switching to OneLibrary was affected.
When will the revised firmware be released?
Pioneer DJ has not given a date. The manufacturer merely announced that it will continue to review the specifications of Device Library and OneLibrary and will inform about the next steps as soon as there is news.
