Liquid Sky d-vices XEN FX LAB Introduced

· re:union Radio editorial · 1 min read

Liquid Sky d-vices has introduced XEN FX LAB. The software expands the delay concept with a modeled spring reverb, dub features, and performance optimizations.

Liquid Sky d-vices has introduced the software XEN FX LAB, a follow-up to Zen Delay. The application runs on macOS and Windows as standalone, VST3, and AU, as well as on iOS.

New Features and Sound Generation

In terms of audio processing, the program continues to rely on a resonant virtual analog filter and tube drive saturation, coupled with an echo unit offering six distinct settings (tape, tape ping-pong, digital ping-pong, digital, and vintage). An editing panel continues to provide modulation of cutoff and time, along with X AM and X FM features. In addition, performance optimizations were implemented to reduce CPU load.

Key additions include the following elements:

  • Spring Reverb: A modeled spring reverb placed at the end of the signal chain, affecting both wet and dry signals. Alongside decay, users can adjust the tension of the spring. A REGEN control routes input back into the tank for feedback, while wet/dry and spring mix remain separately adjustable.
  • Strike: A control that simulates knocking against the virtual spring tank.
  • Dub Mode: When selected, the signal remains dry until dub is pressed or held. Upon release, the ringing echoes continue while dry input can be played over top.
